Hmmmmm, that's what law is: punitive. Losing your right to vote is part of the deal.
Yep, to me that is losing your right to vote while in prison and you know...getting locked up. After you are out there is not real reason to continue to deny someone the right to vote.

Competence, No, not without a someone's competence being decided in a court of law which would be separate from a criminal conviction. Moral fiber? I thought you guys didn't like political correctness, if you had your way Elvis wouldn't have been able to vote in the 50s since he didn't fit moral societal standards in much of the South.
