The simplest answer is usually the correct one. This vast complex shadow world of actors that are privy to things that couldn't possibly exist, and only report it to Hersh only exists in spy novels like the ones Tom Clancy writes. Nothing Hersh ever claims has never been independently verified. If the government does anything insanely secretive and creates some huge lie over it there are no shortage of people who will blow the whistle on it or write a book, eventually. Typically when REAL classified info is leaked the government always goes into panic mode to find the source of the leak. We see this all the time....except whenever Hersh makes a claim. No one is going to keep quiet about George W. Bush training Iranian terrorists in the Nevada desert, like Hersh claims, lol. Hersh loves the attention and money his controversies gives him, this is why he'll keep making them even when he has no way to verify or prove his claims.
