Conservative Leaders Call on Kristen Clarke to Resign for Lying About Her Arrest and Weaponizing the DOJ

Arrested for what? Was she a juvenile at the time of the arrest? Was it a false arrest? Was she indicted and brought to trial? Or did she do a plea deal? Was it a misdemeanor?

So much is unknown....

The LAW states she can legally answer NO, to an employer asking her if she was ever arrested, if her arrest was expunged.
She lied, Congress isn't her employer, such protections are thus irrelevant. Too bad for you folks.

Officially it didn’t. It was an error that should have never happened. Why should that follow someone around?
She is trying to obtain an important public position

We have a right to know

She was being interviewed for her job....The law says those who have expunged arrests do not have to reveal their expunged arrest during job interviews or to her new employer.

Stop being an idiot....

No

She is trying for a higher position
Really? The first post op, didn't say that at all...that I read .... Where do you get that from?

My understanding is she already was approved by the senate for the position she has now and these conservative groups want her to RESIGN from the position she holds presently because she did not tell the Senate in 2021 when they were interviewing her for the job and their consent... about her expunged arrest in 2006.

She followed, the law.

You all are being dicks.

She was being questioned by the senate for a higher position when she lied

It depends on what was expunged, an arrest or a conviction. Generally speaking, it does not have to be disclosed when applying for a job.

If she was under oath, she would most likely have the obligation to disclose the existence of the expungement, but not the details.
Her arrest was expunged, it does not say her indictment was expunged....? As if she was not charged, not indicted.

In 2021, when Biden chose her, and the Senate was interviewing her for the admin position....

She was in an interview with the Senate for the position in 2021, and did not mention the arrest she was expunged for in 2006. The tabloid editorial board of the New York post, is calling for her resignation....

She lied about never having been arrested

The senator did not ask what she was arrested for

Only if she ever has been
That does not matter, one iota!

The whole purpose of expungement law, is so that the person arrested, who met all the standards and requirements for their arrest to be expunged and was approved for expungement,

is so they DO NOT have to tell any potential employer about the arrest that was expunged.....so that these qualified and approved people of expungement, can get better jobs by not having to legally reveal the expunged arrest to their employer.

You are WRONG, and are trying for your own partisan agenda, to remove her by calling for her resignation, for doing something she was legally given the right to do, by spitting on Expungement and the PURPOSE of the law itself!

You can Kiss my grits! 😁

She’s not applying for a job but rather an appointed and powerful political position in the biden adminstration

Doesn't matter, her employer is DOJ, it wasn't a job interview. Confirmation hearings are to confirm moral fortitude, competency, and trustworthiness. Did she she send her application to Congress? No, so stop being an idiot.

The expungement said "police and court records", and there was a 2 year gap between the arrest and the expungement.

That sounds to me like she was arraigned, possibly pled to a DV misdemeanor, and was eligible for the expungement after completing her probation.

But that's just my speculation, we don't know the whole story.

it was for a presidential appointed administration job, an interview and questioning by the Senate for their advise and consent up or down vote.

That doesn't make her an employee of Congress. You folks are simply wrong on this.
Huh. She was being interviewed by the Senate, for the position she was appointed to....And did not tell them she had an arrest that was expunged, because under the law, she was not required to.

just give up already, she will not resign and should not resign, because she did no wrong....

You are the one wrong.

Under state law, either way, she would not be exempt from the Senate's questions.
