For me the whole idea is a non-starter. Considering the full salary unemployment, plus $600 bi-weekly extra pay being doled out to the unemployed, under the guise of "saftey" is wholly ignoring the risks faced by "essential" workers who continue to risk exposure daily, and without any incentive, or recompense ala "hazard pay". That 800 pound gorilla in the room needs to be addressed before I, and many others will even consider talking about more "free money" give aways...

I have no idea. First I have heard of the proposal. I personally would oppose it. The rich will just get richer. All you are doing long term is diluting the purchasing power of the existing dollars by 20% give or take.

This is my take, for what it's worth (very little, I suspect).

If this somehow gets approved in some form by Congress and signed by Trump, I think it will be the ultimate form of socialism. Talk about wealth redistribution!!! People will be paid massive sums to basically do nothing.

Even though I'm as liberal as they come, I personally think this is a terrible idea. The rate of saving has gone steadily up since the 2008 Great Recession. I think, even with 0% interest rates, people will just sit on the money or best-case scenario, pay off their high-interest debt.
