What exactly is a "COVID hospitalization" anyhow?

Does Britain require all incoming patients get the test? If I take a bullet in the back and am admitted to a hospital in Liverpool or Birmingham, will they automatically shove a q tip up my nose?

Will I be counted as a "COVID hospitalization " even though I am only there to have a slug taken out of my back or for a new hip or Sex Change operation?
