Compared to $4.39/ gal, the $3.65/ gal that I saw today looks like a bargain. Faced with this news Obama bin Lyin, gave 2 billion dollars, and a lease for a deep water drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Isn't that just great. We just gave a communist government 2 billion borrowed dollars to drill oil in our waters. Now we get to buy our oil at exorbitant rates. There is simply not enough oil in America to affect the price of oil much. There is a ton of oil trapped in shale, but we don't have the technology to get at it, yet. We should drill in ANWR, but this dipshit who used to be at Shell saying there are massive amounts of oil on federal land that is off-limits is full of shit. Or at least that's what everyone whom I talk to in the oil industry tells me. And after seeing what happened here in Florida off the Gulf, fuck offshore drilling in Florida.

They are also against such things as Hybrids and EVs, or Bio-diesel from any source. Wind Power is a failure, according to them, and solar doesn't exist, the only thing safe is nuclear.

Here in Portland, Oregon, several solar outfits have build manufacturing plants, with a total employment of 7000. Two battery outfits have put in research plants, with the goal of developing and manufacturing EV batteries here. If one of them succeeds, we have a very good chance of landing a EV vehicle manufacturing plant. That is the kind of thinking we need as a nation.

Get off the oil. Fix it so that individuals can be both consumers and producers of energy. So that anyone that owns their own home can power both their home and their vehicle from solar panels on their own property. Yet, when you mention this to these Conservatives, they act as if you are suggesting heresy. Seems they like to pay money to the big corperations.

This is bad news for the President.
Reason....The are three things by which consumer attitudes are measured, the price of bread, milk and of course gasoline.
Almost everyone eats bread and drinks milk. And ......even if some people fill up once a week or 10 days, the price of gas is in their face every time they drive around town. Most folks see the first numeral in the price. "3" is bad enough. A "4" is the breaking point for just about everyone. I watched a news story on the late local tonight. Man on the street reporter asks drivers at what price would gas be for it to reach the "breaking point". Most said it had reached that already. The majority said they would cut back on other things because they need their autos to get to work and other things.
Cutbacks in discretionary spending kill the economy. If people decide it is too expensive for travel, that ripples across many different occupations tied to travel and tourism. Of course the restaurant and entertainment businesses will suffer.
Keep it up Barry. Continue your deliberate and willful attack on the American oil industry. Cut us off from our own oil. Shove your green jobs crap at us...And while the price of gas blows past $4 per gallon and kills people's summer travel plans, watch your chances of re-election go right out the window.
