Pro-Palestine protesters have been demonstrating for the past 48 hours in the District, flooding the streets Wednesday ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress.​

The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) began pepper spraying and arresting some demonstrators in the early afternoon, officials said in a post.​

​

“The crowd failed to obey our order to move back from our police line. We are deploying pepper spray towards anyone trying to break the law and cross that line,” USCP wrote in a post on X shortly before 2 p.m.​

​

They arrested six protesters who had entered the House Gallery and disrupted the address.​

Shortly after 3 p.m., a bulk of the protesters made their way to Union Station’s Columbus Circle and removed the American flag, replacing it with the Palestinian flag.​

The U.S. Park Police said in a post on X at 3:17 p.m. “A crowd in Columbus Circle is engaged in criminal activity and confronting law enforcement on scene. USPP is attempting to deescalate and contact the event organizer for help.”​

​

They advised members of the public to avoid the area.​

​

After protesters burned a flag at Union Station, the U.S. Park Police announced it was revoking the permit for Columbus Circle.​
