Sometimes a single event permits a look with far more significance...

And....the juxtaposition....

Perhaps it's a tale of two political parties....
There's the Democrat Party that, historically, has been the home of slavers, segregationists and those wishing second class citizenship for many Americans.

Even blacks who belong to the party have suffered as a result of this attitude.

Case in point...black House Representative Harold Ford.

1 Harold Ford told not to run for Senator from New York:

“From the start, Mr. Ford’s potential candidacy angered national Democratic Party leaders by disrupting plans for what was planned as a seamless Gillibrand nomination. Harry Reid of Nevada, the Senate majority leader, called Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to discourage him from supporting Mr. Ford, and Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York met personally with Mr. Ford to argue against his candidacy.” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/02/nyregion/02ford.html

Had to keep Ford down, and keep the Senate seat for white folks.
And Ford is far from the only black Democrat forced to the back of the bus.

Please ask me to name other black Democrats who have been beaten back.....

2. But today.....

"Democrat Harold Ford Jr. emerging as potential Trump pick

Former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. is emerging as a possible contender for transportation secretary, or another Cabinet post, in Donald Trump’s budding administration.

The telegenic Ford — who served five terms in Congress representing Tennessee and is the son of a long-serving Democratic congressman from Memphis....

....the moderate Democrat is poised to potentially join the incoming Republican administration. Two sources confirmed to POLITICO that Ford has yet to meet with the president-elect, but that there have been some preliminary feelers put out about potential Cabinet-level posts, including transportation secretary, via "emissaries." And Ford did not rule it out."

Turns out that President Trump isn't a racist, like the Democrats.
