MIAMI, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Senator John McCains recent attacks on the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), are puzzling given his historic support for the organization and its efforts on behalf of immigrant Americans. As recently as February 20, 2006, Senator McCain was the keynote speaker at an ACORN-sponsored Immigration Rally in Miami, Florida at Miami Dade College - Wolfson Campus.
The rally, co-sponsored by ACORN in partnership with the New American Opportunity campaign (NAOC), Catholic League Services - Archdiocese of Miami, Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Miami Dade College, People for the American Way/Mi Familia/Vota en Accion, the Service Employees International Union, and UNITE/HERE, was intended to call attention to the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
Senator McCain spoke at the rally attended by hundreds of ACORN members, most of whom were dressed in the red shirts typical of its members. Senator McCains speech focused on the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, a bipartisan, comprehensive reform bill, which McCain sponsored with Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA

McCain does not to appear to have been sponsoring ACORN.. rather pushing his bill to the public

But even if you call it support....
Much like when you have a friend or an acquaintance that suddenly is shown for doing something against your morals or against the law, you generally disassociate yourself with that person (unless you are Obama, that is)..

Do I fully expect McCain to support LEGAL registration and getting as many ACTUAL people to vote? Yep.... Supporting the right for Mickey Mouse to vote in FLA or Tony Romo and T.O. to vote in Nevada? Nope... Allowing the group responsible for those registrations to continue their current practice without review? Nope

well in that case McCain should disassociate himself from the GOP since it's been proven time and again, in court, that their efforts to disinfranchise voters is illegal.

Trouble is, DD, there has been no voter fraud by anyone ACORN registered. And that is the reason so many Republican Attorney Generals across the country were fired by the Bush Administration...they actually had scruples and refused to play along with the bullshit being pushed by the GOP.

This just proves McCain is more of the same tired corrupt GOP we've all come to despise. He can't be stupid enough to believe that anything ACORN did led to false votes. Well, maybe he can be, but my guess is he's just business as usual.

And Obama should then disassociate himself with the Democratic party... for their efforts to enfranchise non-existent voters or determine intent in a subjective matter of an improperly filled out ballot?

When a definite pattern is shown across numerous areas at many times, in terms of voter registration fraud (and yes, that has been shown), it has to put vote casting fraud into the equation as well... for the reason for registering to vote is to cast a vote... and when an organization endorsing a certain candidate is shown to have a pattern of this activity within the organization itself, it should indeed be looked into further and the validity of their efforts MUST be put into question

There is no record that shows that Mickey Mouse voted this way or that way.... we are not going to get vote for vote election reports... so you are not going to get your 'proof' that YOU want... but the validity and the activity is rightfully under question

You know.....with all the dirty tricks that have been done this election by McInsane and Pale-one, I wouldn't be surprised if Acorn was actually a dirty campaign trick that was done by the Repugnicans.

They're just trying to cover up any trail to them.

Oh it's a trick alright----disguised as an effort to get out the vote campaign. It's blatantly partisan and sole purpose is to elect a democrat.

I understand it's easy to sit back and make things up that no one has anyway of proving...except by catching actual voter fraud. If there was such a problem, there would be more than the seven or so cases caught in the last forty years.

All get out the vote campaigns have similar problems...but it seems only ACORN turns in their rogue employees.

Vote campaigns are a farce.

yeah, except it's not the DNC that is registering these voters or is ACORN now the DNC? That is a huge part of the problem Cons have...they can't separate out different organization or people. Obama doesn't = Ayers and Acorn doesn't = DNC

you're only making yourself looks stupid DD, not a new situation for you but still unnecessary.

No one has voted with those fake registrations and unless and until they attempt to, no fraud has taken place.

ACORN made the mistake of offering pay incentives to their tempoary employees based on the number of people they registered. that's a receipe for disaster IMO.

Ahhh.. but it WAS the DEM party calling to determine voter intent of mis-cast ballots in 2000... or do you not remember that.... and ACORN does stand behind one candidate in this election, or did that slip your mind?

And your proof that nobody voted with those false registrations is WHAT? NOTHING.... just as there is no proof that there is definite use of them... because of the nature of our elections and balloting process... if we did have a way to keep total tabs, you libbies would scream about that as well... but the fact that there is a history and pattern of voter registration fraud of this organization, it should rightfully be looked in to

what is wrong with finding out the intent of the voter when it's unclear?

and yes, ACORN is behind Obama...I suspect if they were behind McCain, doing the exact same shit, you'd be gung ho over them....

ummm how about the fact that the election hasn't taken place yet DD? is there some magical universe where it's Nov 4th already and the election is over? :cuckoo:

you're right, it should be looked into and if there is fraud those people should be prosecuted accordingly.

I don't know what it's like were you live but in FL you have to show a valid photo ID that matches your registered address in order to vote. Seems pretty simple to me.

Democrats go BALLISTIC over the Voter ID law----ever wonder why ?

Because we think every legal voter should be able to vote, and the more procedures and red tape there is, the more people on the fringes get disenfranchised.

Why ? Is ACORN unable to provide them with assistance in getting one ?
