Aside form opening comments, Democrats have painstakingly laid out a case against Trump in the impeachment proceedings.

Many Republicans didn't really deny that Trump tried to extort Ukraine for personal political favors, their excuse to vote against impeachment was either that it didn't deserve removal or that they want people to decide that in upcoming election.
