Except he is still a Republican in disguise.

Are voters turning away from the two major parties? Perhaps. We can only hope as there are many who can't quite fit into either – just like me.

But, who to do it? Here's the Liberal Party Platform 2008-2010 Platform of the American Independent Party and part of it immediately turns me off – as I'm sure it does others. And here is the Libertarian Party Platform Platform Libertarian Party with which I tend to agree more.

So, where do you stand on this?

No, and this story does not indicate such a possibility in any way. Alaska elected a Republican who filed a different set of paperwork than the party's official nomination. That's all.

Now, if we were seeing actual independents, i.e. long term unaffiliated individuals, along with minor party candidates elected on a significantly wide spread, even if small, scale, then maybe there would be something to talk about.
