The systematic destruction of the American way of life is happening all around us, and yet most people have no idea what is happening. Once upon a time in America, if you were responsible and hard working you could get a good paying job that could support a middle class lifestyle for an entire family even if you only had a high school education. We consumed far more wealth than we produced, we shipped millions of good paying jobs overseas, we piled up the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world, and we kept electing politicians that had absolutely no concern for the long-term future of this nation whatsoever. So now good jobs are in very short supply, we are drowning in an ocean of red ink, the middle class is rapidly shrinking and dependence on the government is at an all-time high. Even as we stand at the precipice of the next great economic crisis, we continue to make the same mistakes. In the end, all of us are going to pay a very great price for decades of incredibly foolish decisions. Of course a tremendous amount of damage has already been done. The numbers that I am about to share with you are staggering. The following are 19 signs that American families are being economically destroyed…

#1 The poorest 40 percent of all Americans now spend more than 50 percent of their incomes just on food and housing.

#4 McDonald’s “Dollar Menu & More” now includes items that cost as much as 5 dollars.

#5 The price of ground beef has doubled since 2009.

#6 In 1986, child care expenses for families with employed mothers used up 6.3 percent of all income. Today, that figure is up to 7.2 percent.

#7 Incomes fell for the bottom 80 percent of all income earners in the United States during the 12 months leading up to June 2014.

#8 At this point, more than 50 percent of all American workers bring home less than $30,000 a year in wages.

Yes, a great deal has changed since I entered the job market 50 years ago. Today, any job that only requires simple repetitative work will be done by a machine. The destruction has been a work in progress for the past 50 plus years. What we're seeing and experiencing now, is the results of "The Selling of America" by those we entrusted with our well-being, and the well-being of this once great nation. Yes, we've been sold out by "The Washington Brotherhood" for their own selfish and disgraceful benefit. Yet, voters continue to elect and to re-elect professional politicians to office. Go figure. The American voters have no one to blame except themselves.

Not only have they destroyed the economy, but they have also destroyed opportunities, and have placed many future generations of Americans in astronomical debt. We may never recover from this shameful destruction of what was once the envy of the world. Personally, I see no end to it except hitting the proverbial rock bottom. In my opinion, we're going to have to hit that bottom before voters realize what they've done, and stop the fantasy dreams that maybe professional politicians will actually represent this nation and her citizens in the future. But, it's like the old saying, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". No matter how many times this message is preached, voters still do the same thing election after election, expecting a different result, and end up disappointed, as usual.

It is beyond me why voters can't see the game being played, understand the consequences, and stop playing into the hands of those hell-bent on the further destruction of this once great nation. No matter how many times we inform voters that professional politicians are about egos, self-service, greed, power, influence, and climbing the political ladder at all cost, they refuse to listen, and repeatedly elect them to office. It's as if voters really expect the crooks to fairly, equally, and justly serve this nation and her citizens. It's as if the voters never venture outside their front door and see what's happening on Main Street America. It's as if the voters never read or watch the news, never talk to their friends and neighbors about economic hardships, nor pay attention to the struggles their communities are experiencing.

What is the root cause of our socioeconomic decline, and what set it all into motion? Who or what determines the direction of this nation? And, where does the responsibility lie for protecting and ensuring opportunities that enable us to be a self-supporting citizenry and nation? We have some of the most brilliant minds in the world right here in the U.S.A., yet it seems they can't figure out the answers to the above questions. Folks, what is taking place, and what has taken place, is not rocket science, and it doesn't take an MIT graduate nor a Philadelphia lawyer to see and understand the problem. For some reason unknown to me, voters swallow hook, line, and sinker, every single word spewed from the mouths of professional politicians during campaigns for office. Then they go to the polls, elect them to office, then spend the next four years complaining. Go figure.

When you can't feed your family, can't pay your bills, and forced to apply for government assistance programs, who are you going to blame? When you can't afford health care, can't find a decent job, and your utilities are turned off, who are you going to blame? Well, if you vote for professional politicians to serve this nation and her citizens, you have no one to blame except yourself. Why? It's because you're guilty of aiding and abetting the very ones that have, and are, destroying this once great nation. Think about it. Do some soul searching. Ask yourself the tough questions. Maybe if you do, the light will come on and you'll stop aiding and abetting the ones responsible for the destruction of this once great nation.

That was certainly true for me. I remember very well getting paid and going to the univ office to make a payment on my tuition.

Other countries, with much small tax bases, are able to pay for their people's education, thus making an invaluable investment in their own country's future. Those same countries are able to repair and maintain their infrastructure and give health care to the citizens.

The US continues its downward spiral that the right wants.
