Americans do not like war

President Eisenhower's speech about the military industrial complex was more of a criticism of how military our society has gotten by the end of the 1950s. I'm not against the military but I really think that most of our history has been full of religious people who knew that going to war would involve breaking all of the ten commandments. This might have made people think that war was not suppose to be a way of life for us and before the 20th century Americans pretty much stayed out of foreign conflicts and when they did erupt Americans genuinely felt the other side deserved to die (The Civil War). I really don't think anyone really hates Iraq yet we went to war with them. I really think this is why Obama is popular with young people. They know he isn't going to go gamble their lives by foolishly going to war with other countries.

If you are correct about America not liking war, it will guarantee a loss for both Trump and Cruz in the general election.

Military spending in the U.S. is a giant public works program under the guise of "defense"... As there is no nation or group of nations in the world who survive an all out war against the U.S.A.

We've made the mistake of getting into these conflicts fighting guerrillas and insurgencies. Foolish.

Our Navy is big enough to fit the next 8 Navies inside of it.

We don't need more military spending. We need more spending on VA programs, like getting their record keeping on actual computers and out of file cabinets.

Tell TRW and JPL to start working on a compute system for VA data and records. All hardware contracts should be frozen until that is taken care of.

Correct, Americans do not like war. They also do not like being blown into tiny pieces by crazed muslim radicals.

Americans are fed up with the kowtowing to radical terrorists by obozo. The Brussels attack and the stupid comments by the hildebeast will ensure that Trump is the next president.

your ignorance is once again demonstrated. Do you know who builds US military ships, planes, tanks, ammo, uniforms, boots, trucks et al? American blue collar workers (mostly union) that's who. Do you want to put those millions of people out of work?

1) We have had more democrats as president during war than republicans.
2) How many of God's laws have we broke by fighting wars on the behalf of the U.N.? The left seems to be pretty cool with that but the minute you fight a war without the U.N. then they scream warcrime. WTF! How is it killing in the name of the U.N. less wrong than killing in the name of U.S.A. I think if the left really did hate war as much as they said they did then they would be pretty pissed off at the U.N. but since the left hates America then it becomes an issue. #AmericaHatingAssholes = #DemocraticParty

You are describing Utopia which does not exist. And Obama lives in a fantasy world.

Yes, we all get iraq invasion was a bad move. I, a conservative, railed against it before it ever began. But to use that one example as a testimony that conservatives love wars or will attack anything that moves is stupid. Should we have gone into Afghanistan after 9/11 or just tried negotiations? Should we have gone into Kuwait and Iraq after Saddam invaided Kuwait in 1990? Should we have gone into Grenada when the communists took over? How about the Balkans when the Serbians were slaughtering people left and right?

Blanket statements do not carry much weight here. And if young people adore obama, they deserve obama. You need to first think and have a moral code before you can be so sure about these matters.

What an ignorant statement. War is much more likely under a weak president like Obama or the hildebeast or the socialist asshole Bernie.

A weak American president always brings about wars and threats of wars.

I was stating an opinion that deeply held religious beliefs that Americans have had might have kept us from going to war. It might have also kept the power of the state in check because if the government wanted to start a war the people checked with God to see if it was OK. The people came back and said "NO" .
