Simply apply their desire to bring everyone down to their level and then focus it at a superpower like America.

The Gallup Poll asked about "American leadership", and not specifically President Obama. American Leadership has taken a nose dive in the polls because of ongoing idiocy over the Fiscal Cliff, tax cuts, and the whole basic obstructionist attitude of US party politics.

Well, yes. But "American leadership" is being assessed, not just the President. That includes the Republicans who, as you constantly remind us, hold the House.

I would like to play with your logic here. Democrats won the Presidency, House and Senate in 2008. According to the Gallup poll, disapproval rate for the US government rose by 15% in the next year while the approval rate fell by 4%, the worst numbers dating back about a decade. Now Republicans won the House in 2010. Since then, the U.S.'s image has been on the rebound, going from a 21% to a 25% approval rate and dropping from a 47% disapproval rate to a 41% disapproval rate. So tell me, why did the "American leadership" have worse numbers when Democrats had near unilateral control than they did when Republicans won the house? Hmmm.

I have relatives spread through out the Pacific Rim and their thoughts about Obama is that he's just Barack Bush. The thing that kills him is his continuation of GWB policies, Obama isn't liberal enough for them. Not only so much for the Dem talking points but also the GOP's cries of socialism or he's too liberal! In the Big Picture, Obama is not what both parties are portraying him as! What a surprise.
