Not so perplexing actually. Humans are a violent animal. Our entire history is filled with acts of violence that makes the stuff happening today seem trivial. Think of how many historical figures you know of who're remembered for being pacifists. Now think of how many were generals and other war-like people. Violence and horror is who we are and what defines us. When we study history we don't study the periods of peace in-between the wars but the wars themselves.

You are absolutely correct. ALL humans are capable of varying degrees of violence.

Everybody has a "line in the sand", that once crossed, leads to violent reactions.

The history of the world is based on power, domination, conquering, control, genocide, and myriad other reasons for violence.

Gun control laws will change NOTHING. Those who have a propensity for violence will simply find other means and tools to conduct their violent activities.

Gun control laws will do nothing more than lead to an unspeakable increase in violent crimes, by removing the most powerful means of defense for innocent people and potential victims of violent crime.

diane feinstein claims california has model legislation that the rest of the nation should be following yet she has some of the most violent cities and cities with the most gun violence in the country. her laws do not deter criminals.
