Anyone on here NOT a government employee have the day off today?

Most daycares are closed today as are schools.

Now since most daycares charge a weekly fee (if open or not) parents who are not off are left scrambling for someone to watch their kid or have to take a day off.

They lose both the cost of a day's worth of daycare plus the time they have to take off. The same applies to those with school age children.

All these BS holidays amount to is "retired grandparents back to work day".

IMHO there should only be four one day holidays.....Christmas, Thanksgiving, the 4th of July, and Labor Day. All should be taken on the day they fall, none of that four day holiday crap.

It is Presidents’ Day. Yes, a federal holiday. I don’t know of anyone who has the day off, except for government workers.

Since government supposedly exist, only to serve our needs, shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t there be days when the private sector has off that the government offices are open so we can get some of that endless government business done?

Well the great thing about private businesses is they can take whatever holidays off that they want. You do know that don’t you?

And yes I know people whose private businesses follow federal holidays

Yes, but they are rarely able to. That’s because they are so busy working hard and paying the taxes to support these government employees and their lucrative sinocures with generous days off.

Haha, they aren’t strapped working hard so they can pay taxes. What an absurd thing to say. They work hard to make profits plain and simple
