The whole AR-15 thing reminds of whenever a really bad shark attack happens. Shark attacks happen all the time, but when a really bad one happens, then every subsequent shark attack, no matter how insignificant, makes the news for several weeks afterward, and people start thinking shark attacks are suddenly on the rise because of the sudden focus on them by the media.

"AR-15" is the current shark. Christ, they raided some guy's home the other day here and confiscated some guns, "one of which was an AR-15" the local news just had to point out.

No shit, there are so many other guns that are just as if not more deadly. But AR 15 sounds catchy and they get to say it's "the civilian version of a military assault rifle" which sounds so scary to some. lol

I believe fully autos are against the law in every state without a federal stamp. If you banned semi-auto guns, you would have to take half the handguns in the country

Well, I don't have one. I don't own any gun on the list of guns they want to ban but I don't care. If they ban them then I will start making full autos and have them if I need them. They (the governments) don't have the constitrutional power to to take them or ban them from future generations. When the military infantry is using directed energy weapons the general public will have them too. It is our right and we will continue to exercise it.
