20 trucks with Syrian chemical equipment said sent to Iraq

Unconfirmed report in Lebanese newspaper echoes claims by Syrian rebels that Assad is hiding his WMD stocks to evade inspectors

"Twenty trucks laden with equipment used in the manufacture of chemical weapons were driven across the border from Syria into Iraq on Thursday and Friday, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Mustaqbal reported on Sunday. The trucks were “heavily protected” by security forces, and were not inspected by border guards, the paper reported, adding that its sources confirmed the illicit cargo."

If this is true, it is further proof of the utter insanity and complete lack of character of obama for not striking and destroying the assad regime the moment after it used CW on a mass scale on Aug. 21st. The whole inspection arrangement is a sham, russia is completely untrustworthy and assad is a murderous, lying animal, so this plan is a complete fantasy right up there with flying unicorns. It gives assad a reprieve and a chance to not only increase his attacks on the rebels, but hide/transfer his CW - just as this article attests. All one can do is shake their head at the abject stupidity and shortsightedness of this plan.

If it is proven that CW have been transferred to hezbollah, you are almost guaranteeing another war because israel will light lebanon up like a christmas tree to destroy them - and that's BEFORE hezbollah even tries to use them. I can see israel going after both damascus and pounding teheran into dust if hezbollah actually tried to use a drop on an israeli city.

This lack of resolve and failure to act by obama might be the greatest foreign policy failure of the last 70 years since WW2. It was his job to explain to the US public the importance of taking action - and despite being extolled by the leftwing US media as a magical communicator - failed to do so. Now the US and its allies will reap the rewards of this failure, for years to come and with increasing wars almost a certainty.

UN: 'Convincing evidence' of Syria chemical attack
Sep 16,`13 -- U.N. inspectors said Monday there is "clear and convincing evidence" that chemical weapons were used on a relatively large scale in an attack last month in Syria that killed hundreds of people.
The findings represent the first official confirmation by scientific experts that chemical weapons were used in Syria's civil war, but the report left the key question of who launched the attack unanswered. The rebels and their U.S. and Western supporters have said the regime of President Bashar Assad was behind the Aug. 21 attack, while the Syrian government and its closest ally, Russia, blame the rebels.

Secretary of State John Kerry briefed U.S. allies on a broad agreement reached over the weekend with Russia to end Syria's chemical weapons program, pressing for broad support for the plan that averted U.S. military strikes. Kerry met in Paris with his counterparts from France, Britain, Turkey and Saudi Arabia before seeking a U.N. resolution that would detail how the international community can secure and destroy Syria's stockpile and precursor chemicals.

As a sign of possible difficulties ahead, Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sparred Monday over possible military action if Syria doesn't abandon its chemical weapons. And in Geneva, the chairman of a U.N. war crimes panel said it is investigating 14 suspected chemical attacks in Syria, dramatically escalating the stakes. Paulo Sergio Pinheiro said the panel had not pinpointed the chemical used or who is responsible.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon presented the U.N. inspectors' report to a closed meeting of the U.N. Security Council before its release. "This is a war crime and a grave violation of ... international law," Ban told the council in remarks distributed to the press. "The results are overwhelming and indisputable. The facts speak for themselves."

The inspectors' report said "the environmental, chemical and medical samples we have collected provide clear and convincing evidence that surface-to-surface rockets containing the nerve agent sarin were used ... in the Ghouta area of Damascus" on Aug. 21. "The conclusion is that chemical weapons have been used in the ongoing conflict between the parties in the Syrian Arab Republic, also against civilians, including children, on a relatively large scale," the inspectors said in their report to Ban. "This result leaves us with the deepest concern," the inspectors said.

There are elements in the regions that are heavily invested in convincing America to strike Assad now instead of letting the long process play out. It wouldn't surprise me to hear more reports like this.

Syria Hiding Saddam’s WMDs Back in Iraq

September 15, 2013 By Daniel Greenfield

I certainly hope Obama doesn’t invade Iraq in search of Saddam’s old WMDs, which he originally shipped to Syria. That would be too ironic.

Did Bush really say the chemical weapons the USA sold to Iraq were shipped to Syira? Is that the reason the USA invaded Iraq? Or was it AIPAC?

Was it the Al Qaeda Syrian rebels that reported this or was it the radical Islamist FSA that reported this or was it that new group of rebels that just beheaded that pilot the Turks shot down that reported this?

We always get these reports from "the unknown Syrian rebels" or the "unknown Syrian Opposition".

Can't we at least get the name of the appropriate terror group?

Are you that much in a rush to give Syria to AQ?
