This, right here, is exactly what the mindlessly excited mobs on both the left and the right are failing to understand. Capitalism isn't bad. It's capitalism abuse that's bad. Capitalism is a tool to be utilized, not deity for cult worship. The whacked out right wing nutters are kind of like Facebook saying "everything we do is good, even if it gets people killed" with the way they think everything in pursuit of capitalism is some kind of inerrant righteousness. But the whacked out left wing nutters who want communist utopia are just a wrong when they complain about capitalism as if it were some kind of inherent evil.

It's not unfettered capitalism that made America great, it was well managed capitalism. It's not capitalism that has caused our economy to become so diseased, it's abuse that caused it, and the abuse that needs to be eliminated.

Ayn Rand was a mediocre writer. She died while receiving social security. What makes her all the more repulsive is that she firmly believed that you are born into a class and you should know your place. She came from a bourgeois family and her father's business was confiscated when she was 12. So, she was deeply impacted by the 1917 October Revolution.

I agree about her writing! I read Atlas Shrugged when I was younger and it was a damn chore. I never could bring myself to try and tackle the Fountainhead after that. I wasn’t overly impressed with her ideas either.
Orwell, though, is a delight to read and he saw ascendant leftism at close range as much as Rand did. The spanish communists had condemned him to death I think.
Bradbury is a beautiful writer too. But he is misunderstood. He writes of distraction more than censorship.
