His royal highness wouldn’t touch the food at the GOP luncheon.

Barack Obama agreed to meet with a group of GOP senators yesterday. But, he wouldn’t eat their food.
He didn’t bring along his royal taster. No joke.
The Daily Caller reported:

President Obama was offered a feast of Maine treats, including University of Maine lobster salad and Wild Blueberry Pie when he visited Senate Republicans for a Capitol Hill luncheon on Thursday. But he didn’t touch a bite, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) told reporters following the 1:30 PM eat n’ greet. That’s because the President didn’t have a food “taster” with him, said Collins, who was responsible for the menu.

Come on, this probably being taken out of context it has nothing to do with anyone feeling they are royalty or how food tastes. There are probably some rules in place by the secret service that apply to any president.

Here you go, from of all places DailyMail:

Reports on past presidents show that the Secret Service has intervened in some way before food was presented to the leader of the free world.
Former Secret Service agent Joseph Petro didn't go into much detail in his 2005 book about his career protecting presidents but did write, 'In principle, nothing edible gets near the President unless we know where it comes from and who has handled it.'
In his book, Standing Next to History, Mr Petro revealed that when the president travels abroad, special White House stewards are given the menu in advance for formal dinners.
The stewards bring the ingredients from the U.S., prepare the food and serve it to the president, though it will appear exactly like those options presented to the other guests.
When President Bill Clinton visited a restaurant in Los Gatos, California in 1993, local media reports mentioned Clinton's 'official food taster who had served three presidents,' but the man was not identified.
Former President George H.W. Bush would frequently eat out in the Beltway and according to a Washington Post article in July 1990, he always brought his taster, bottled water and his own condiments to a restaurant.
The Post reported that on one occasion, Bush's Taster-in-Chief actually washed all the flatware and plates before the first couple ate.

In this case they knew who got near it, hence the very real concern.

LOL! The royal taster thing was the first thing I thought of as well. I don't think he was worried about Republicans poisoning him though. I just think he's a...welll...less than ideal dinner guest.

Wow..this is amazing.

Is this the FIRST US PRESIDENT EVER TO HAVE HIS FOOD TESTED FOR POISON?

And it's a binary question.

YES.

NO.

What a jackass.
Goes to a luncheon and doesn't eat.
And as far as testing for poison isn't that what the wife is there for....
Just kidding folks....

When this comes across the screen of the Secret Service tonight I want it known I was just tweaking the Libs....

I just got an email from the FBI...
They are shutting down my Internet access in 5 minutes...

Dam Michele can't take a little joke.

Later peeps....

Maybe.

Who tasted the hamburger he ate in some greasy spoon in dixieland? There a dozen or more pics of Obama sampling food in places many of us wouldn't eat.

It is an ancient and honorable tradition not to break bread with people one holds in contempt.

It'll be months before nutballs figure that out. If they ever figure it out.

Can only hope that one of the cuts of the sequester will be the Royal food Taster.

In this case, they knew where the food came from and everyone there was eating it. Why didn't Obama bring his taster when he knew there would be a luncheon? I think that was rude.
