Gas station owner: Alabama sheriff killed after asking young man to turn down loud music

"The owner of the Hayneville, Alabama gas station where Lowndes County Sheriff "Big John" Williams was shot and killed said the sheriff pulled into the parking lot, where a crowd had gathered, to ask someone to turn down loud music.

“They had some type of bonfire, young kids, and when that was over, they started congregating on the parking lot with loud music,” said Stewart Harrell, QV gas station owner. “And that’s when [Sheriff Williams] pulled in and asked them to cut the music and just, ‘I’d like for you to disperse.’ After that, I don’t know what happened.”

The suspect is identified as 18 yr old, William Johnson...after he shot Sheriff Williams, Johnson fled the scene but returned to the gas station about three hours later and surrendered. Johnson is the son of a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy, the county sheriff’s department told CNN. Most of the witnesses at the scene all basically report the same thing, the sheriff approached Johnson's truck and asked him to turn down his music -- and Johnson shot him......absolutely evil......

LESSON #1:

NEVER COME BETWEEN A MAN AND HIS MUSIC!

It just ain't right.

The stupid kid threw away the rest of his life over what is most likely some grudge. No one has the right to take the life of another outside of direct self defense and there doesn't seem to be any indication of that. The rest of his life in prison will be the proper punishment. It's sad, two lives ruined.

That said, mind your own business. If he liked his music loud, he liked it loud. It wasn't the middle of the night. In a few minutes he would have moved on.
