Sanders to launch presidential bid TheHill

A Democratic source close to the senator confirmed to The Hill that Sanders will announce his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in a statement later this week, before heading back to his home state for a campaign kick-off event early next month...

...The former secretary of State has a huge lead over the field of potential Democratic contenders, taking 62 percent support in the latest Fox News poll released last week.

VPR News has learned from several sources that Independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will announce his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday.

Sanders will release a short statement on that day and then hold a major campaign kickoff in Vermont in several weeks..
.

...Sanders' entry into the Democratic race ensures that Hillary Clinton will face a challenge to win the support of the liberal wing of the party.

Sanders' basic message will be that the middle class in America has been decimated in the past two decades while wealthy people and corporations have flourished.

His opposition to a proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal (T.P.P.) shows how he plans to frame this key issue of his campaign.

Bernie Sanders - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist,[1][2] and has praised Scandinavian-style social democracy.[3][4]

Sanders runs for office as an independent but caucuses with the Democratic Party and is counted as a Democrat for purposes of committee assignments. He was the only independent member of the House during most of his service and is the longest-serving independent in U.S. Congressional history. Starting in January 2015, Sanders became the Ranking Democratic Member on the Senate Budget Committee.[5]

In an interview with The Nation on March 6, 2014, Sanders stated that he is "prepared to run for President of the United States" in 2016.[6] On April 28, 2015, Sanders reportedly stated he would announce his bid for President of the United States on the upcoming Thursday.[7]

This means that Hillary Clinton is going to be primaried from the extreme Left. I suppose that you could possibly say that Bernie Sanders is to Hillary Clinton as Ted Cruz is to Jeb Bush.

The makes Sanders the 2nd or 3rd Democratic candidate in the race, for Lincoln Chafee already inofficially announced on CNN on April 16th.

I want to thank MikeK for this thread that he created in the middle of 2014, around 10 months ago, concerning Bernie Sanders:

Bernie Sanders US Message Board - Political Discussion Forum

Sanders has been named in some primary polling, and outside of Vermont, he is usually in the 3%-4% range. But that could change.

Discuss. What do you personally know about Bernie Sanders? Do you know what he supports and what he doesn't? Would you vote for him? Do you think he has a chance?

Thank God, If Hillary ran unopposed it would be shameful, and terribly boring.

So, ole Bernie as it turns out, is the Progressive that I always accused him of being. I was never fooled by the "I" after his name. The only redeeming quality he has is that he admits to being a socialist.

That said, he'd be better than Hillary.

Exciting news for progressive neo-communists.....

Our own Hugo Chavez wanna be.....

Workers of the world unite !

As I said on another thread about this the few who get in the Democratic primary are doing so to keep the Hillary nomination for looking like a coronation and to try and get the VP slot or cabinet position if Hillary is elected President.

I like Bernie. But since voters cast their ballot based on emotional issues instead of reality he doesn't have much of a chance.

I like having him and Warren in the Senate to bring some focus on the needs of the 99%.

Bernie Sanders is the only Democrat honest enough to admit he's a Socialist. I give him credit for that, the rest of the Party is just dryhumping
