Conservative Comedy consists of slipping on a banana peel or getting hit in the face with a pie.


Not at all. The 3 Stooges were the greatest comedy team of all time, and hardly "conservative" or "liberal". Just funny as heck.

Everyone, regardless of political orientation finds it hilarious watching guys conk each other on the head or jab each other in the eyes.
 
I picked the most popular choice, because it was the singularly brilliant comedy of the 70's, but wanted to throw in an honorable mention to Rockford Files. Good writers, and James Garner was, to me, the OG of his day when it came to private detective shows. He spawned a lot of others to come.
 
The 1970's was a break-through decade for TV. Comedies and dramas were less frequently shot in a studio and shows touched on subjects not previously seen on network TV,
