Does a former president have the right to assert executive privilege?

The question is the subject of some debate among scholars. Citing a landmark 1977 Supreme Court case regarding the constitutionality of a law ordering Nixon to transfer the White House tapes and other records to a government agency, some legal experts argue that a former president has an implied authority to assert executive privilege.

In the case known as Nixon v. Administrator of General Services, the Supreme Court rejected the government's argument that "only an incumbent president may assert such claims," and it held that Nixon, "as a former president, may also be heard to assert them."

No. Can’t you stupid fks ever do research?

Fking parrots
The judge magistrate ruled the classified documents belonged to the government and Fbi could retrieve them, and go through them.

Trump fought it in court, by judge shopping, and his picked judge stopped the fbi, the doj appealed, and the appellate court chewed the judge shopped Trump appointed judge got her ass chewed for her decision. The docs belonged to the government, not Trump, there was no executive privilege for trump in this record and document case.

Still haven’t seen any you fkers published executive privilege definition? When facts don’t fit your position

That won’t be happening. He doesn’t even grasp that it’s actually known as “Executive privilege.”
As has already been pointed out, executive privilege isn’t an issue here. Trump tried to raise it but there’s no merit to his claim.

Fascist is as Fascist does....

The strange thing is, the FBI and the Justice department were used to keep a political party in power. That is what the Gestapo did for Germany’s Nazi Party.

The more you look into the Democrats and the Nazis, there are some scary parallels going on.

Again, Nazis used demofks position, it’s noted in the archives

It wasn’t “pointed out.” It was a stupid claim made by you; baselessly.

Imbeciles (such as you) don’t get to make the call on what does or doesn’t have merit.

Not in this context. Executive privilege is a very limited doctrine. Trump can’t hide behind it in every circumstance.
True. But that’s not the question.
His claim fails spectacularly here for numerous reasons.
It failed here solely because Potato didn’t join in it; which was a cheap-ass political decision that will likely bite him in the ass later.

There aren’t “numerous reasons.” And you can’t name any valid reasons.

You must mean Trump because he keeps claiming it by going to court & of course having his ass handed back to him & laughed out of court. And the same thing will happen with his latest farce in regards to Pence testifying.

You're no smarter then Trump for going along with it, low I.Q. dope.

Cite a case or two.

Maybe. Maybe not. (Off hand, I presume it won’t be recognized. And in this instance, it is probably the right call to reject it.)
You're no smarter than Trump for going along with it, low I.Q. dope.
Clap, your opinion still means absolutely nothing. You are, after all, a hopeless hack and totally retarded.

The first reason is that a former executive has NO executive privilege against the current executive. The only president to ever consider the possibility was Nixon, which should tell you something. SCOTUS told him that’s not a rational use of executive privilege.

The second reason is that executive privilege doesn’t protect presidents from criminal investigation. Again, Nixon tried that and SCOTUS told him that’s not rational.

Nothing baseless about it. I already showed you how the archivist approached it, noting that Nixon vs GSA was a SCOTUS decision that explicitly said executive privilege claims from a former president can’t be used against a current president.
