Energy independent is a pretty relative term, without much meaning, as American production and processing buys and sells on the international market at international market prices.

WHY???

He's a lifelong politician who knows nothing of how regular Americans live. All he knows, is the political game and deception to the point that he probably thinks it's just normal. He should have been eliminated by term limits decades ago. I doubt he realizes the danger the U.S. is in as a country and that he's been lulled over time in believeing that everything will be OK as it's always been. US politicians never miss a paycheck.
