Um. No.

Staff Sergeant Jonathan Turner served seven tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and died last week in California from combat-related injuries.

His mother was unable to make the trip from Georgia to California for the funeral and the Marine Corps handled all of the funeral arrangements – including shipping Staff Sergeant ashes back home.

And that didn’t sit well with Patriot Guard riders, so they stepped up by creating a caravan and personally escorting SSgt Turner’s remains all the way across the country.

Well, he's dead. It's not like he cares how he gets there

No. He doesn't.

We should care how he gets there. This wasn't some random person in our society. Not a delivery guy, or some Info Tech guy in a cushy office, or some manufacturing worker. This was a soldier who gave the ultimate price for serving the country.

That should matter to us, as a people. And should be given proper respect. Not shipped in a FedEx box.

As a veteran, I totally agree.
