Even if there is man-made climate change and even if what they propose would reduce it, it is still bad policy for a multitude of reasons. Mostly their solutions are geared at punishing poor and rural people so the urban people can continue to live their carefree lifestyle. Downscaling toward sustainable living is the only path forward and urban dwellers simply won't. New York isn't going to plow under Central park for solar or local farming. In addition, we would have to have economic degrowth in the US in order to create carbon slack for the 2 billion or so people overseas, mostly in Asia, who are expected to move into the middle class with middle class consumption habits over the next generation.
