standard of living is a much better measure than average income. You don't see people moving from georgia to michigan do you? nope. what you do see is a lot of people and companies moving south. Texas has a large net increase in population for instance, whereas new jersey and michigan have net decreases.
Except that trend has started to reverse.

IF I lived in Georgia, I'd move to Michigan in a heartbeat.
The even better thing about this is that it was reported that the city has a 43 million dollar contract with UPS.

Unions are why we have those laws, unions are why we've kept those laws. Without unions, it'll be a fast track back to the bottom.

How come here in the south we do just fine without them.. My husband makes a great salary , has great benefits and guess what his company which is a fortune 100 company is not unionized. There was a time and place for unions and that time has passed. They were good and passed many regulations that it will be impossible for them to go back to the 1920s now.

Unions once served a legitimate purpose...by controlling the robber barons and greed mongers---who are mostly from New York, New Jersey, and New England.
Then, in their turn, the Unions got greedy...and the market place is taking care of them.
But, the Public Employee Unions were not needed to fight Greed in their employers...the citizens are their employers. Instead, their sole purpose is to buy the politicians, mostly Democrats, who negotiate their contracts....and loot the Treasury. They are a cancer on this country.

The company dismissed 20 of the workers after their shifts Monday and issued notices of termination to another 230 employees, notifying them that they will be fired once the company has trained their replacements, UPS spokesman Steve Gaut told Business Insider.
The workers were protesting the dismissal of longtime employee and union activist Jairo Reyes, who was fired over an hours dispute, according to Gaut. The New York Daily News first reported on the firings.
