Profligate politicians have never met a multibillion-dollar infrastructure project they didn't like -- except when it comes to President Donald Trump's border wall.... Think about it.... Boston's Big Dig black hole, the nation's most expensive highway project, burned through $25 billion and was plagued by deadly engineering incompetence, endless cost overruns, leaks, lawsuits and debt.... California's high-speed rail boondoggle is a $100 billion bullet train to nowhere. Gov. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown promised a 2020 completion date for the miracle transportation system. The latest estimates predict it won't open until at least 2033, and the costs keep rising.
Seattle's ill-fated Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement topped out at $4 billion in local, state and federal funds for a two-mile bored road tunnel that will finally open next month -- nearly four years behind schedule and hundreds of millions of dollars over budget.... What the Big Dig, bullet train boondoggle and Seattle squander all have in common is that political elites, lobbyists and corporate heavy-hitters trampled over grassroots citizen opposition to get their way. Too many government construction projects are built because these publicly subsidized gravy trains reward campaign donors, powerful public employee unions and assorted control freaks in the urban planning and transportation sectors.... Another glaring example? Across the country, voters have repeatedly rejected billion-dollar sports stadium and arena subsidies over the past 30 years -- only to be sabotaged by bipartisan alliances overruling the will of the people. I used to run a watchdog website called "Porkwatch" filled with so many field-of-schemes case studies that I couldn't keep track of them anymore.... Then there are all the tax-funded highways, bridges, museums and other edifices glorifying Beltway swamp creatures.... President Trump's defining battle against the Beltway to fortify our borders -- by concrete, steel, increased manpower, electronic surveillance, all of it -- isn't just about fulfilling a campaign promise. The wall is a necessary monument to sovereignty in a nation clogged with billions of dollars of worthless political monuments to Me, Me, Me.

~~~~~~
Democrats were shocked when Reagan proclaimed "tear down that wall, Mr. Gorbachev", They never wanted the Russia to collapse. Now the Progress Marxist Socialist Democrat Left scream, "you will never build a wall to protect Americans, President Trump".
Funny isn't it, Obama would not have had any problem demanding $36 billion for one of his pet projects Solyndra. After all, he demanded, AND RECEIVED, $800 billion for his un-stimulating stimulus. The stimulus bill that funded Solyndra received no Republican votes in the House and only three in the Senate.
Perhaps President Trump should promote the Wall as a “Shovel Ready Project” and watch Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrat heads explode all over D.C.
Let's get over this childish wall talk.
I'll fund your wall if you provide a path to citizenship for the illegals we have and you double the number we can legally let in next year?
My idea for a path to citizenship for existing illegals is to have 10 years of good work and criminal history.
For the new ones I want to force them to own and live in a city owned home in the rust belt. After 10 years they can just have the place. Maybe that will fix our property demand problems.
Why should we support a path for illegal aliens to citizenship. What do you mean the money disappeared? Are you saying Obama didn’t approve funding for border security?
And look at this staggering statistic for non-citizens legally residing here-
63% of Non-Citizen Households Access Welfare Programs
In Texas, the figures are 69 percent vs. 35 percent; in New York they are 53 percent vs. 38 percent; and in Florida, 56 percent of non-citizen-headed households use at least welfare program, compared to 35 percent of native households.
America is an illusion, no free people ever begged to be walled in by concentrated wealth and power. You'd better review the history of this eurocentric worldview and perceptual reality. You are hardly among the first population is has devoured.
Those brown people coming for your trinkets and womenfolk are they? Jeebus americans are stupid. The same charade never gets old or caught onto.
We functionally wiped out North America's native households. The same system now comes for you, that's all, you were never immune.
Why not? Immigrants have built this country. Turn them into immigrants. Germany didn't loose the war with Russia because they didn't understand how WWII was going to be fough. They lost because they didn't have enough ppl. We need more ppl.
Boston's Big Dig black hole, the nation's most expensive highway project, burned through $25 billion and was plagued by deadly engineering incompetence, endless cost overruns, leaks, lawsuits and debt.... California's high-speed rail boondoggle is a $100 billion bullet train to nowhere. Gov. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown promised a 2020 completion date for the miracle transportation system. The latest estimates predict it won't open until at least 2033, and the costs keep rising.
Seattle's ill-fated Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement topped out at $4 billion in local, state and federal funds for a two-mile bored road tunnel that will finally open next month -- nearly four years behind schedule and hundreds of millions of dollars over budget.... What the Big Dig, bullet train boondoggle and Seattle squander all have in common is that political elites, lobbyists and corporate heavy-hitters trampled over grassroots citizen opposition to get their way. Too many government construction projects are built because these publicly subsidized gravy trains reward campaign donors, powerful public employee unions and assorted control freaks in the urban planning and transportation sectors.... Another glaring example? Across the country, voters have repeatedly rejected billion-dollar sports stadium and arena subsidies over the past 30 years -- only to be sabotaged by bipartisan alliances overruling the will of the people. I used to run a watchdog website called "Porkwatch" filled with so many field-of-schemes case studies that I couldn't keep track of them anymore.... Then there are all the tax-funded highways, bridges, museums and other edifices glorifying Beltway swamp creatures.... President Trump's defining battle against the Beltway to fortify our borders -- by concrete, steel, increased manpower, electronic surveillance, all of it -- isn't just about fulfilling a campaign promise. The wall is a necessary monument to sovereignty in a nation clogged with billions of dollars of worthless political monuments to Me, Me, Me.
~~~~~~
Democrats were shocked when Reagan proclaimed "tear down that wall, Mr. Gorbachev", They never wanted the Russians to collapse. Now the Progress Marxist Socialist Democrat Left scream, "you will never build a wall to protect Americans, President Trump".
Funny isn't it, Obama would not have had any problem demanding $36 billion for one of his pet projects Solyndra. After all, he demanded, AND RECEIVED, $800 billion for his un-stimulating stimulus. The stimulus bill that funded Solyndra received no Republican votes in the House and only three in the Senate.
Perhaps President Trump should promote the Wall as a “Shovel Ready Project” and watch Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrat heads explode all over D.C.

Let's get over this childish wall talk.

I'll fund your wall if you provide a path to citizenship for the illegals we have and you double the number we can legally let in next year?

My idea for a path to citizenship for existing illegals is to have 10 years of good work and criminal history.

For the new ones I want to force them to own and live in a city owned home in the rust belt. After 10 years they can just have the place. Maybe that will fix our property demand problems.
I'll bet those immigrants will take better care of those city owned homes in the rust belt better then the white trash who live in trailer parks & chant for Trump at rallies.

They may appreciate them more and folks from a third world country just might buy homes in Cleveland or St Louis proper and be happy with them.

Be careful ridiculing folks though. I tend towards snarky and have to work on not angering folks who disagree with me. It makes them dig in their heels.

If memory serves me right in 2013 there was a by partisan bill passed by the senate to reform immigration and the GOP lead house refused to even take it up. I believe the same thing happened in 2006.

What’s up with that?

Obama says the border fence is 'now basically complete'
DHS reports that there is now fencing for 649 of the 652 miles described in the Secure Fence Act of 2006. But the vast majority of the requirement was met with vehicle barriers and single-layer pedestrian fence. The original act specifically called for double-layer fencing, and only 36.3 miles of double-layered fencing currently exist. However, the act was later amended to allow Border Security the discretion to determine which type of fencing was appropriate for different areas.

Where did the $56 billion allotted for the double walled barrier go?

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO THE 2006 SECURE BORDER FENCE ACT? * 100PercentFedUp.com
Aug 16, 2015 ~~The Secure Fence Act was introduced on Sept. 13, 2006 by Rep Peter King (R-NY) and passed Congress on a bi-partisan basis. In the House of Representatives, the Fence Act passed 283 -138 on September 14, 2006. On September 29, 2006, the Fence Act passed in the Senate 80 -19. The Secure Fence Act of 2006’s goal was to help secure America’s borders to decrease illegal entry, drug trafficking, and security threats by building 700 miles (1,100 km) of physical barriers along the Mexico-United States border. Additionally, the law authorized more vehicle barriers, checkpoints, and lighting as well as authorizing the Department of Homeland Security to increase the use of advanced technology such as cameras, satellites, and unmanned aerial vehicles to reinforce infrastructure at the border. So far less than 40 miles of a real fence have been built – most of it during the Bush Administration.... DHS reports there are currently 36.3 miles of double-layered fencing, as the bill required,

Thanks for the info. I’ll dig into it as I don’t recall Obama being a stonch advocate against border security. In fact I remember him very willing to deport criminals and support border security but I’ll see if I can find a link to something he did that stopped or limited construction of a barrier with appropriated funds, unless you can tie it together
