As for China being in the driver's seat, European leaders have more respect for Xi than they do for Trump. The trade deficit with the world was $735 billion in 2016, the last year of Obama's Presidency. Last year, the US trade deficit was $854 billion. More importantly, exports to China were $115 billion in 2016. Last year, US exports to China were $106 billion. Exports to China were $129 billion in 2017, before Trump started screwing around with tariffs.

The trade deficit with China is about the same in 2019 as 2016, but only because imports from China went down drastically in 2019. The USA had it highest trade deficits with China in history, since Trump was elected.

So exactly what has Trump done to cow the Chinese? It seems to me that Xi's power and prestige throughout the world, has risen substantially under Trump, while Covita has become the laughing stock of the entire world. Except the joke isn't funny anymore. Too may people are dying.

Trump is the guy who is allowing Xi to do this. He has sucked up to Xi like he does with all of the dictators and Xi has played him like a cheap fiddle. Just like the rest of the world's dictators have. Trump has been an obsequious toady with all of them, best especially with Xi and Putin.

Trump encouraged Xi to build "internment camps" for dissenters, and told Xi he didn't care about human rights. What Xi did in his own country and to his own people was none of Trump's concern. Trump didn't say jack shit about Hong Kong either.

I have yet to hear anyone indicate any support for Xi, or anyone who doesn't worry about the rise of China, but Trump is the one who has done more FOR Xi, and the other dictators around the world, than any President in US history. I know exactly what Xi is and who we're dealing with.

What I don't understand in why you think Trump has done anything but make a bad situation worse, or what you think a stupid, weak, beta like Trump is capable of doing to contain the threat.

Trump is neither tough, nor smart. He tries to dominate and bully others, but the moment anyone stands up to him he runs and hides. When he's with Putin or the other "dictators for life", he's like a giddy schoolgirl with a crush on the coolest guy in school. He talks about how "tough" Kim had to be to take over his country at such a young age. The man seized power and killed anyone who stood in his way. It would be laughable if it wasn't so fucking dangerous.
