It's beginning to appear that the 4 Americans lied according to Brazil. There are reports that a fight broke out & the Americans caused a bunch of property damage for which a security guard was holding them at gun point until the police arrived.
If that story is true they face up to 3 years in jail. Three of them were pulled of their flight and detained for questioning. One swimmer already returned to the States.
