Breaking News: Port Workers Strike Starts Across The East and Gulf Coasts

Yeah, that sounds right.
Unfortunately for the Kamala campaign, the perfect storm has occurred: A massive strike knocking out ~50% of imported goods a lack of presence to a major disaster across multiple states, and illegals now looting Americans by taking advantage of the disaster. The tears are streaming down my face, and I bet the campaign will overexaggerate their presence in the upcoming days.

Will they? Won't the lack of goods in warehouses place a high demand on trucking and a low supply on goods? Thus, putting a shortage of goods for trucking to move?

Depends on how much rushed inventory they got off the boats in the past two months before the Strike hit.

Port workers strike starts across the East and Gulf Coasts

Updated 1:29 AM EDT, Tue October 1, 2024

Nearly 50,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) are on strike Tuesday against the nation’s East and Gulf Coast ports, according to the union, choking off the flow of many of the nation’s imports and exports in what could become America’s most disruptive work stoppage in decades.

The strike, which was also confirmed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as the Port of Virginia, began at midnight. There appears to be a wide gap between the union’s demands and the offer of the United States Maritime Alliance, which uses the acronym USMX. The maritime alliance represents the major shipping lines, all of which are foreign owned; as well as terminal operators and port authorities.

Who does this United States Maritime Alliance represent?

The maritime alliance represents the major shipping lines, all of which are foreign owned; as well as terminal operators and port authorities.

So support the workers. These foreign owned ports need to pay American wages.

Joe is so TIGHT with the unions, right?? SO Tight...then why didn't he get in there and work out some kinda deal? Union Joe!!! Where are you buddy. Get off that beach before your old can gets melanoma. You had...how many clot shots??

This is why companies should have a warehouse in various cities stocked with supplies, so for a while they can get shipments out. I'm sure Walmart has some. Mc Donalds has their warehouses all over the place.

What if the west coast unions do a "sympathy slowdown" for the East Coast brethren?
That's what Mexico will handle.
We will use Mexican ports and shovel the goods by rail. Which doesn't hurt the Railroad's feelings or Mexican feelings in the slightest.

The shippers built huge ports in Mexico and Canada. Almost nothing comes to US ports except Long Beach. The Chinese own that one so they use their own people.

What a dockworker strike also involves is the LNG exports to Europe.
Europe needs the LNG from the East Coast and Eastern part of the USA or else its gonna be another cold winter for them.

We ship several billion cubic feet of Natural gas to Europe every year....especially for winter....those fees (leases) for using land and docks went up drastically under Biden in Louisiana, Florida, and Texas.

So that the Big Companies from many angles would apply pressure to cave in favor of the Unions.

Now to be fair....the Unions can't hold off the automation forever....it's coming. Been proven to be more reliable, time efficient and cost effective than manual labor can provide.
But this doesn't mean that the contract can be broken at a whim either.

I was checking to see what things I use on a daily basis, and most of them are produced in the US. Paper towels, toilet paper, dog and cat food, cheese, milk, eggs...

The port strike will probably mean truckers will get in a lot of overtime.
All the cheap Chineeee shit at Walmart will rise ...

Illegal Automation?
Yes, when you have a contract that says that you will not automate....but you do it anyway that's a contract violation. It's a major and not a minor element of the contract.

That's why.

Of course automation is coming and there's no stopping it. But to speed up the timetable because of Federal Dollars (Biden) is a calculated risk and it went snake eyes.

Typical corrupt labor union gangster. He wants a 75% increase in pay while average Americans are struggling to make ends meet.

Plenty still comes into US ports all down the coast, unfortunately usually on foreign hulls to yards run by foreign shippers.
