If there is every a justification for police unions, this is the case. This guy is a political albatross for every politician because politicians won't stand up for cops doing their duty if it means pissing off irrational voters. Every politician will want to throw this guy to the lions and have nothing to do with him.

I criticize cops for their excessive protection of each other but in this case they're likely well justified. The problem for this cop is that he can't really work in Ferguson anymore and his future looks like ZImmerman's, who is going to hire him? A good cop, good record, won awards, no complaints against him. Life ruined for doing his duty to keep society safe.
