Breaking: U.S. declines to veto U.N. Security Council resolution for Israel to stop ....

building in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem as a flagrant violation of international law.

Building in their own capital violates an international law? That's hilarious!
No country on Earth recognizes East Jerusalem as part of Israel.
Betcha they will.
There is no country on Earth (with the exception of Palau) that will recognize East Jerusalem as part of Israel.

The US will very shortly and also will recognize it as part of Israel's capital.

Naw, don't believe the hype. With the resolution now passed, the U.S. would be breaking international law if it recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The U.S. won't do that, even with Trump.

Wow! That sounds serious.
What will be the punishment for breaking that "law"?

What would East Jerusalem be part of then? Very soon there won't be a West Bank or Gaza strip. True story.
When there was talk of a two state solution to Israel/Palestine, it was said that the Palestinians would have their capital in East Jerusalem.

Jerusalem was never the capital of any Arab country nor does it have any real significance in Islam

While it is the third most important place in Islam, it is the most important site for Christians, where our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified and was resurrected . And, Palestinians are Christians too. Not to mention Via Dolorosa and the 14 stations of the cross. In fact, we need a Crusade to evict all non-believers from the place, Jews and Muslims. That would solve the problem.

Well, it makes it extremely difficult for the U.S. to impose international law on other nations.

U.S. declines to veto U.N. Security Council resolution for Israel to stop Jewish settlement activity

The United States’ abstention Friday reflected mounting frustration in the Obama administration over settlement growth that the United States considers an obstacle to peace.

The resolution came one day after a scheduled vote was postponed when the sponsor, Egypt, withdrew it after the Egyptian president spoke by phone with President-elect Donald Trump. Friday’s resolution was sponsored by New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal.

Shortly before the vote, several U.S. senators said that if it passed they would introduce legislation to cut off U.S. funding to the United Nations and to any states that voted in favor it.

Frankly, it's about damn time.
Good thing to do but as tad late. Looking like Trump may just be another puppet in that he supports them moving their capital to Jeruselum which would run counter to any peace settlement

The Arabs don't want peace. So now they REALLY won't want peace?

The punishment is a reduction in influence. For example, China might decide to lift sanctions on North Korea claiming that the U.S. does not observe international law, so why should they? Or if the World Court calls out China for the building of the islands in the South China Sea, the Chinese might say screw you, if the U.S. doesn't follow international law, why should we. Get it?

A crusade sounds lovely. It's just that 'we" stuff is a bit phony from those who do their Crusading from behind the safety of their keyboard. LOL

The Muslims and Christians wanted peace, until the Jews began attacking them and evicting them from their homes, villages, towns, and cities.

"Declassified UK reports document build-up of conflict, Jewish public's endorsement of their leaders' pro-terrorist stance and declare armies of Arab states were Palestinians' 'only hope'"

"After an increase in violent attacks by the militant Zionists of the Stern group and Irgun, British officials reported later in 1946: "Arab leaders appear to be still disposed to defer active opposition so long as a chance of a political decision acceptable to Arab interests exists." But they warned: "There is a real danger lest any further Jewish provocation may result in isolated acts of retaliation spreading inevitably to wider Arab-Jewish clashes".

British officials predicted war – and Arab defeat – in Palestine in 1948

Israel is a rogue scofflaw state. This resolution accuses Israel's settlement building in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem as a flagrant violation of international law. The whole world knew this already but the United States' refusal to give political cover to Israel is significant because until now, the annual UN Security Council resolutions backing a two-state solution have been vetoed by the U.S. and internationally this is seen as a rebuke by the Americans of the Israeli occupation.

Israel's longstanding and only ally is allowing the U.N. Security Council to go on record with a vote of 14-0 in finding fault with Israel. This is good news in the season of peace to those of goodwill.

Recognized or not by those opposing Israel, it will be a defacto part of Israel.

And should Trump move the embassy to Jerusalem, that will be recognition by one country on Earth.

It's not only the UN that through the resolution made it clear Jerusalem is not part of Israel. It's part of U.S. Law.

Yes, yes. Moslems make similar appeals to their god when they're making blustering threats to slaughter the Jewish and Christian infidels.

So, I can take your "Crusade of None" to be a toothless, blustering threat?

If we want to, and have the ability to, we'll impose. And if we don't, we won't. So what?

And if the US does observe "international law" and China still misbehaves? How do we force China?

Thanks for admitting this "law" which isn't a law, has no punishment if it's broken.
Has no enforcement mechanism and is just another Muslim temper tantrum.

Yes, Jerusalem should be 100% Christian. We have the power, why should we allow non-believers to have any authority in Jerusalem? Why do we need to be fair or accommodating? Throw out the troublemakers. Deus Vult.

Jews owned Jerusalem long before Christians took it in the dark ages. Hell Muslims have a better claim to the city then Christians they controlled it longer then Christians. Well after they took it in a war.
