I'm assuming $300 is for materials .. what about labor, installation of utilities and other costs that typically aren't included in this type of marketing? They are building this homes out of recycled plastic in Mexico. Why not here?

Even if you added $20K for the things you note, it would beat the cost of the 3D printed models that cost $160K. Promising on two fronts--affordable housing AND a solution to the plastic pollution problem.I'm assuming $300 is for materials .. what about labor, installation of utilities and other costs that typically aren't included in this type of marketing?
the only reason we have a housing shortage is directly connected to government regs,,,Even if you added $20K for the things you note, it would beat the cost of the 3D printed models that cost $160K. Promising on two fronts--affordable housing AND a solution to the plastic pollution problem.
the only reason we have a housing shortage is directly connected to government regs,,,
due to the building codes and zoning laws its not profitable to build small houses so all the builders build what makes them money,,
just to get utilities on location from the street it can cost up to and over 50K just for that,,
I said 'material costs' in the title. The house was "built" in Mexico in a week. Certainly building in the US would be more costly and slower but seems to be a good solution for lack of small affordable homes.I'm assuming $300 is for materials .. what about labor, installation of utilities and other costs that typically aren't included in this type of marketing?

these people that have never actually done hard work dont understand what it takes to get something done,,My boss avoids so called affordable starter homes.
We only build million dollar homes or larger. Margins are so tight there literally is no profit in modest housing.
All those added government costs are directly passed onto the home buyers and our wealthy clients have no problem paying it.
Yeah.Wrong. The reason we have a shortage is because private lobbying pressure, to use the most expensive means of building to maximize profits for companies and shareholders.
Everything is more expensive, and 100% of all inflated costs are directly because of private pressure to use the most expensive means of production and distribution, with as mamy middlemen as possible, to maximize profits for companies and shareholders.
Once those factors are removed, everything costs one third, or less.
With materials that cheap, the homes would still be way way cheaper than with conventional building materials.Mexico has affordable labor where here in our America we don't.

We have a housing shortage because everyone wants to live in a big house in a nice neighborhood with good schools. If they can't afford one there is a 'shortage' since they feel entitled to live wherever they want and are owed help.the only reason we have a housing shortage is directly connected to government regs,,,

I dont think I would want to live with the fumes or the micro plastics
if everyone wants to live in a big house and all that other shit why are we talking about this??We have a housing shortage because everyone wants to live in a big house in a nice neighborhood with good schools. theres a big difference between a few trinkets sitting around and being encapsulated inside plastic cube ,,Every one of us lives in a house that is filled from floor to ceiling with plastic products and materials ... these plastics allow us to make products that would be unaffordable were they to be made of metal, wood, or glass.
This has been the case for nearly a century and ... miraculously ... we have not all succumb to "fumes".
Have you ever seen frame stucco construction? The recycled plastic panels are more robust than frame stucco for sure.Building codes...
