A burglar who stole numerous items of what he thought was expensive accessories has discovered that everything was fake and he cannot sell them. He contacted the press to report how he was ripped off, and has demanded $500.000 from the victim to compensate him for his losses.

Twist in the 'she-cave' case: Burglar claims responsibility for closet theft, says items were fakes - NY Daily News

This is an entirely new level of entitlement.

Actually, I think there should be protests and that could lead to fruitful looting. Ya know, get some friends....

Read this earlier this morning... all i can do is shake my head. He breaks in, steals her crap, and then complains that it's not real... What are criminals coming to!?! Sure sign of the pussification of America

Basically, because of the massive publicity, the thief cannot sell the good through pawn shops or other channels. So the thief is trying to ransom the goods back to the owner. That's probably why the sentimental items were offered up, like the locket containing a souvenir of her son's hair. So this has turned into something more like a kidnapping and ransom case.

I wonder if he filed a lawsuit and it came across a Liberal Judges desk would the suit go forward?

Depends if we're going to start arguing "being wealthy" could be harmful, ya know, like hot coffee.

Not even close. He can't sell the goods because they are all fake. Paste jewelry knock off handbags forged labels. Total fake. Worthless junk.

Or they're not fakes but because the publicity makes it difficult to fence the goods, he now wants to screw the owner by claiming them as fakes and thus throwing a monkey wrench in the insurance claims.

How though will the insurance company prove that they items were fakes? Subpoena the thief to give testimony? Hah!

Maybe they should make a reality show out of this.
Heck, everything else on those shows are fake, this should fit right in!!!

Has anyone blamed the racist white cop who arrested him yet? Lets not forget the most important part.
