California has a lot of water, as always.

I flew back into California yesterday- crossing the Sierra- and I had no idea how bad the snowpack is.

We are in the middle of March- which means we are very close to the end of our rainy season- such as it is this year- and there was so little snow.

The reservoir's west of Yosemite- which would normally be capped off about this time of year show wide rings of yellow from the exposed earth that would normally be covered with water. Other reservoirs I have seen recently are in similar straits.

Sure- you can claim accurately that California has 'alot of water'- but that is meaningless- California has received less water in the last 3 years than normal, and that shortfall is accumulating.

So yes- we should be looking at all of our water usages- and making rational decisions on how to reduce water usages to sustainable levels in line with the amount of rainfall and snow we are getting.
they should learn to catch the runoff and stop letting it go to the sea.

California has hundreds if not thousands of reservoirs that to just that.

Of course if you completely stop all water going to the ocean, then you:

a) eliminate the Sacramento River as a transportation source- no more grain ships loading up in Stockton.
b) destroy the California fishing industry.

And of course endanger all sorts of wildlife.
i said runoff not river. I recognize that reading is a skill.

You capture all of the runoff- there are no more rivers.
holy crap, another left wacko! I see this thread with you in it is pointless.

Holy crap, another right wing ignoramus scared of the facts.

Well I rethought the previous comment you made concerning rivers. Why does California allow the rivers to run into the ocean?

Why does California allow the rivers to run into the ocean?

The legislature is deeply divided over that.

1/2 of the vast Democrat majority wants to pass a law prohibiting rivers to flow into the ocean.

The other half wants to petition Obama for an executive order mandating the same thing. They feel the rivers might pay more attention to American's Kenyan Emperor than to them.

Silly buggers.......

There is a drought taking place in California. The data being posted by the OP in this thread show precisely that, he's just too stupid to read his own material.

The central valley include the bay area is a desert. That is why we built the water projects.

I admit deserts are dry, its not nothing to admit, its simply fact, in a desert the majority of days are nice, bright, sunny days. To walk into a desert and ask how long there has been a drought is stupidity.

How long you ask has there been a drought in California, a million years give or take a few thousand.

To hear the Democrats cry and moan, you would think we are dying of thirst here in California. But the fact is that the "crisis" is literally created by the Democrat Politicians.

The Politicians for the last 5 years or more, have been reducing the amount of water delivered to the farmers, under the guise to save the Delta Smelt, using false studies and classifying the Smelt as some sort of special Delta Smelt to protect it, thus giving them an excuse to stop delivering water to the Farmers. So they then allowed the Farmers to draw water from the aquifers. Now, after years the aquifers are getting low, as the politicians planned, and now the Democrats are screaming drought (in a desert?).

The Politicians are created the problem so they can say they are right about global warming.

It is no different than the Democrats using all the Oil to manufacture millions of Wind Turbines, and millions upon millions of Solar Panels, the Democrats are trying to use all our Fossil Fuel simply so they can say they were right about peak oil.

The Democrats have forced the Farmers to use the water from the Aquifers, now they can claim there is a problem.

What else have the Democrats done to squander water?

Building and installing millions of Solar Panels has squandered water, do the Democrats acknowledge this?

Building Wind Farms squanders more water, do the Democrats acknowledge this?

Do the Demorats build desalinization plants? No, they do everything in their power to prevent this.

The Democrats simply create problems and blame Global Warming, why?

Because it will take over $46 Trillion Dollars to fix the problem they create in which they will blame on Capitalism.

You see, it is only Socialism (Marxism) that works, and Democrats are the only ones smart enough to be the ones in charge of implementing the solution.

As ever, we use photographic evidence to prove our claims, while I see you have none.

hahahahahahahaha, you know that is man made right? Do you know when it was made and what the population was then? hurry now, don't be late, because after you find that out, how many people live there today?

California IS suffering from a drought. The progs aren't responsible for that. The snow pack IS 25% of "average". There is no doubt of that. The progs, through misuse of legislation have caused the problem to be worse than it is.

You can't blame the drought on them. You can blame the idiotic actions they are taking for making it worse however.
25%? How about 31%, no sense in making things seem worst than they are, huh.

25%, that was back in January.

Good thing they are predicting rain this coming week. I just hope the next 5 months of the Rainy Season is not as dry as the Democrats are praying for.
If it rains, they will bitch about the mudslides.

Bitching must be the main hobby of Californians.

They raped their environment building their concrete jungles, and must divert the blame.

I wish the ten miles closest to the sea would just slough off into the Pacific.

The world would be a better place, except for consumers of pornography.

Sure I agree, and I wonder if that is not what the media and politicians want from those who do not live here, not to care, to think you can live without California, which technically you could. But as the saying goes, California is too big to fail. We are fast becoming the first the state to be well over $1 Trillion dollars in debt, it is unbelievable the money we are spending on Trains to Nowhere, On Green Energy, on public transportation, and now it will be a $100 billion on the Twin Tunnels water project.

So I wonder, if you do not care by design, by the careful propaganda that is fed to you?

That is because congress is denying the water to the reservoirs. They get filled by water projects, the pumping of water. Not all reservoirs, but some or most. It is not as simple as saying our lack of water is because some "micro-climates" did not get rain.

Almaden Reservoir? I guess if you google and find a picture that is Eureka moment, the Almaden Reservoir has a 93% restriction on its capacity due to "seismic stability concern".

delta4embassy, there are 10 reservoirs used by San Jose, you post a pic of one that is for all intensive purposes not used because of earth quake concerns?

What is your problem delta4embassy, are you dumb, a liar, or just made an extremely stupid mistake thinking San Jose has one reservoir, not ten?

Unfortunately, California just came off its fourth driest January on record for the state, according to NOAA's National Climatic Data Center. Downtown San Francisco did not see a drop of rain the entire month for the first time since records began during the Gold Rush.

February continued that trend, as the jet stream continued to be steered into Canada, rather than the West Coast. Overall, December through February was the warmest such period on record in several California cities.

(MORE: Megadroughts the U.S. Future)

Reservoir levels in the state were higher than last year, at this time, but still well below early March averages, ranging generally from one-third to three-quarters of average for early March, according to the California Department of Water Resources.

Unfortunately, with dwindling supplies is a report of dwindling conservation.

January urban water use diminished by only 9 percent, compared to January 2013. This is a sharp decrease in conservation compared to December's 22 percent reduction, according to the State Water Resources Control Board.

The board is scheduled to consider expanding and extending the current water use regulations, which include lawn watering and car washing restrictions.

Governor Jerry Brown first declared a drought emergency on January 17, 2014, directing state agencies to take all necessary measures to prepare for water shortages.

Well, we have what Elektra yaps, then we have what the sane people are seeing.
