Californians battle largest wildfires in state history

Why my daughter wanted to go there again is beyond me............but the fire is now 15 miles from where she is right now and they are evacuating................

She plans to move to Texas with her new boy friend in the fall when the lease runs out.
And she can deal with Tax-Ass wildfires.
My other daughter is there right now..........LOL

Never been a wildfire near there..........LOL

No State taxes there.

45% of California is owned by the federal govt. why is Trump not raking in California?
Tell me about ROADLESS law moron................and how you can't do controlled burns there.............Stupidity in motion
Maybe you should inform Trump, he seems to think it can be raked...
You ever seen a large industrial rake..............it eats trees..............California has allowed this crap to get to it's state..............Mother Nature is reminding you why controlling the forests is a good idea...............Just pissed my daughter went there and is now 15 miles from the dang fire.

The biggest problem in Texas is it smells like a oil rig wastewater pool or a sludge pit.

It isn't done in Mizzouri either, occasionally the feds will let you take downed trees and limbs.

We do it here............and we have rain all the time.............may have Cat 1 or 2 rain next week.........let a fire deal with that.......hmmm

Controlled burns work........and we still have paper mills here........imagine that...........not everything is in your hero country China

Prayers up for the firefighters, and those who have losses in this terrible fire. May rain come down and extinguish the areas ablaze, and may the scorched earth heal. Amen.

Surprisingly ... it's illegal for the state of California to build roads on Federal property ... shocker, I know ...

Land management officials are required to follow the Laws that CONGRESS passes ... what moron councils government officials violate the law? ...

One law says to harvest so many board feet of lumber, another law says to protect endangered species ... as soon as a timber allotment is auctioned off, a lawsuit is filed ... 5 to 10 years in court ...

We're at least 50 years from Congress even beginning to look at the issues at hand ...

The Roadless Act put the forestry department in cuffs..............not to mention not able to get rid of dead wood.

How can you build fire breaks when you can't even build a road............

How can you build fire breaks when you can't even build a road............

Roadless areas are designated to be preserved ... like National Parks, Wilderness Areas, certain research projects ... roads are built into the forests when they are harvested the first time ... trees are replanted and harvested again using the same roads ... and these are generally open to the public to use in between ...

All the hills around here are full of roads ... and the trees planted 50 years are ready for harvest, overdue maybe ... The Donald has not repealed the job-killing EO issued by the Clinton administration that halted much of the logging activities on these lands (the EO was to relieve pressure on the courts) ...

The truth is when we clear cut 50 years ago, the environment was completely ruined ... it will take a thousand years just for the mature trees to return ... these forests here today are all artificial in every way, only a thin gloss of recovery is seen ... the megaflora ... some episodes of the X-Files were shoot in these places ... looks spooky and primeval with an abundance of roads ... but they're nothing of the sort ... there's a few roadless forests near here that are primeval ... thanx to the Roadless Act ...

Log them or watch them burn ...

Logging thins the forest.............also helps control the bugs that eat the trees..............thinner forest are healthier forest.........but that has not happended there........so now they are infernos ...........and mother nature is cleaning house.......on a massive scale.

Logging strips the forest of all living things ... it's just bare soil after they're done burning off the brush ... so the newly planted trees don't have to compete against weed species like alder or elm ... just like an Indiana corn field and for exactly the same reasons ...

Thinning is prohibitively expensive ... three times the cost for 1/3 the timber ... and why are you leaving behind harvestible product? ... would you ask a corn farmer to only harvest 1/3 his crop and leave the rest to over-winter? ...

For the record ... regular wildfires are necessary for the health of the forest ... there's several species of trees that require fire to burn their cones and release the seeds ... an odd adaption for a tree where fires are bad ...

The general consensus is that decades of fire suppression has caused a build up of fuels ... if we've decided to return our forests to their healthy state, we have to watch every square inch burn ... it's normal ... it's necessary ... it's natural ... the stupid fuck who builds his house in the middle of this deserves to lose everything ...

A thinned forest is a healthy forest.........the trees grow taller because they aren't competing as much for nutrients and water...............and controlled burns pass them by.

Where are you getting your information? ... 300 foot trees don't compete for nothing ... those are shrubs where you live, anything with a trunk smaller than 6 feet in diameter isn't worth harvesting ... we're talking about California trees here ... some of which are the tallest in the world (although not all of Australia has been formally inventoried, so stay tuned) ...

Typical flatlander logic ... "let the Feds borrow the money" ...

Yawn.......from threads on this many moons ago.......and a match stick fire experiment.......less dense went right by the taller trees........more dense burned everything........inferno.

Bottom line.........they allowed the growth out of control...........and now mother nature is doing what it does.......and always has done.

Ah ... no actual forest experience ... just a political message board ... got it ...

I've done threads reading about experts when Cali had the other fires.........a lot of threads were about it showing the overgrown underbrush that was exploding...........the match experiment was from BERKLEY.........imagine that.........and showed whey they need to be thinned............from a course that taught about forest fires.

I heard that it is very smoky and hazy around the California and Arizona areas. That it is blocking out the sun.
The Deep state knows that UV rays kills the coronavirus. And so they are blocking out the sun UV rays by using smoke from these wildfires.
