Can a peaceful, diplomatic solution be forced on Syria?

Your question is a contradiction. a diplomatic solution doesn't need to be forced. If you have to force something, you are by definition not using a peaceful solution.

It seems that you have little understanding of diplomacy:

There is never, ever any diplomacy unless that diplomacy is backed up by force.

It's unfortunate, but that is the way of the world.

No, diplomacy is primarily management of relations.

diplomacy definition - Bing

1.international relations: the management of communication and relationships between nations by members and employees of each nation's government
2.skill in international dealings: skill in managing communication and relationships between nations
3.tact: skill and tact in dealing with other people

Let's say they hand over a lot of chemical weapons. Does anyone think that then Kerry will accept that all of them have been turned over?

Syria's offer is just the first step in the negotiations. Of course we're not going to accept. See the OP for the full list of conditions (at least the full list that I would demand if I were in Pres. Obama's shoes).

Starting to look like the POTUS was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers. We may have a solution as it appears the POTUS has forced Russia to do something to avert the impending attack. Cant wait to see how this plays out.

The threat of implied Military Force more often as not works better than the force it self.

If only the shrub/dickless/rummy/rice/tenet had allowed the inspectors to finish and there would never have an invasion.
