We were getting ready to take our kitty to the vet this upcoming week because she kept sneezing. We thought that it was really strange because she didn't have any other symptoms and she is currently the only pet we have. Then she had a hairball this morning and now she appears to be just fine and the sneezing (at least for the time being) has stopped. We're going to keep an eye on here obviously, but I was wondering if any other cat owners had an experience with this.

My cat Max has that problem. It's usually a bacteria infection in their sinuses.

The Vet should test for viruses, but they'll give you some stuff to feed your kitty (antibiotics) that you have to give to them once a day with an eye dropper. Max hates it, so I have to but on my welder's jacket and gloves to give it too him. I need a Shark suit to be honest.

Okay but like I said in my OP the sneezing has stopped so we're just keeping an eye on it to see if the hairball getting stuck in her system is what was making her sneeze.

Hairballs are a simple problem. Get some hairball remedy and just put a dab on his lips every day.
I would still take the kitty to the vet. Hairballs are in their throat, not their nose. I guess you would have hair in your throat if you were constantly licking your furry coat.

All my cats sneezed. On rare occasions they would have sneezing fits. It might have been something as simple as a hair tickling inside their nose. Hairballs are a fact of life. If the sneezing stopped as well, I wouldn't worry about it, certainly not worth going to the vet for, as what would be your complaint, that the cat appears fine now?

Hey, RR, if you are interested, I revamped your avatar a bit to make the text message a bit more readable, if you like it.

Is your cat a strictly indoors cat, or do you (like many do) allow your cat out to "roam" ?
It could make a big difference as to the sneezing.

Is there any mucous? If so ..is it green or yellow? If neither, probably not an infection.
Have you changed to a different litter?
Have you introduced any new foods?
Did you start using home scent/aroma oil diffusers or anything of that nature?
Used any kind of saw inside the cats living area? (Don't laugh, I've done it)
New laundry detergent?
New cat beds?
(100's of reasons for cat sneezing)

Generally, if your cat is still eating normally, still peeing normally and still pooping normally then it's probably not serious. (usually, but there are exceptions of course)

The fact that you care for your cat enough to make a vet appointment over the sneezing is a good sign of a happy cat with a good home.
:)

Oh...generally, having or coughing up hairballs doesn't usually cause sneezing as best as I know.
Sometimes (usually) it's just a dust bunny or something they got in their noses.

She did let out a couple of sneezes taking a bath but I think that's just the fur tickling her nose as that's the only time that we've heard her sneeze all day.

Sounds stupid to me .
Having a cat called Christmas will sound nutty most of the time .

You appearing at your front door in swelteringn July shouting , " Christmas , come here" will encourage the neighbours to have you certified .

Umm I think that you're a bit confused lol

Oh okay lol and btw my kitty didn't sneeze at all yesterday so I do believe that a couple of days ago was a few normal sneezes. I'm pretty certain that when she bathes herself her fur tickles her nose. Why she was sneezing when she was purring Im not sure if though. 🤔
