CBS Poll- 76% Approve of SOTU Speech

I don't get the socialism stuff. Where is it? We don't have any of it. The number of people who support it are .00000000000000000001 of the population. Stop already.

to a point many of our programs do have "socialism" built into them. maybe not much, but it's there. the "progressive left" is all for it and many new senators and congressmen are for it.

Everyone seems to support some form of socialism.

The people on the "right" never seem to complain about farmers getting 20 billion or so a year in what would be called "wealth redistribution" if it were going to poor inner city people. There was no bitching by the "right" when they got an extra 12 billion to offset the damage of the trade war.
So you like paying $6.00 for a can of kernel corn?
Welfare is welfare no matter how republicans disguise it
Welfare is getting money for no work. Farmers work very hard and take an enormous risk.
Yet no other business has the backing of the US Treasury if they fail...Derpa! (big time)

If President Donald Trump has one gift it is that he can command a room — and a national audience when he needs to.

The president gave his second State of the Union Address before a packed Congress and gallery Tuesday night, hitting a theme of political unity hard as he reached out to hostile Democrats who, at several junctures during his speech, stood and applauded.

Overall, more than three-quarters of Americans — 76 percent — approved of the president’s speech, according to a CNN poll taken right after he finished.

CBS News, in a similar survey, found that 72 percent of Americans supported the president’s message, with 59 percent in the CNN poll saying it was “very positive.”

Yes they do, but they are still being given our tax dollars, often in payment for not growing something.

Our tax dollars are being redistributed to them, and you support it.

Yep. That was a speech for all time. Just an excellent job.

Trump is correct. El Paso is one the safest cities list. B- for crime and safety.

"All told, a legion of empirical evidence supports the idea a southern border wall could, in fact, work. There is also anecdotal evidence. In local press accounts, El Paso residents and business owners alike have praised the fence, citing it as an effective deterrent to both illegal crossings and crime."

I just do not see it. Long before he decided to run for POTUS I thought he was a terrible public speaker and not all that bright based upon his vocabulary...that has not changed at all even with the best paid speech writers around.

Yes, I do. Farmers are some of the hardest working people in the nation. You couldn't do it. I grew up in the midwest and I know what it takes.

I am not disagreeing with you, I work with farmers every day, my job is in the Ag industry. I live in the midwest and see it first hand.

But it does prove my point that both sides approve of "socialism" in one form or another.

Donald J. Trump is President, and Penelope is a malcontent socialist radical who hates America, hates God, hates babies, but loves them some free shit.
It's not America's fault Penelope that you can't get a VISA to come to The Greatest Country on Earth.

And neither do your pathological lies.

Trump os right. We will NEVER become the Socialist country Bernie, OCS and others want. Americans are competitive. We are the greatest country in the world because we are not average. We strive to excel to be above average. We don';t want to be all alike. We want to do better than the next guy. removing the competitive nature of our culture would reduce future achievements of our citizens. Having all of us strive to meet some pre-determined benchmark will destroy the definition of American

The one built in 2006 as evidence walls work. But keep playing partisan politics to the detriment of US citizens. Your hate for America is noted.

Giving a good speech is not the same as being a good president. He may get a bump in his approval numbers but he will promptly do something to send them right back down.

The SUBSTANCE of his speech was excellent, and accurate, especially with regards to Jobs, the Economy, our booming ENERGY sector, Prison Reform, Border Security, etc. What was inaccurate in those areas? Be specific.

Mr. Trump said that America is the largest crude oil producer in the world and that production has hit a record high.

This is true.

The United States has been the largest producer of oil and gas in the world since 2013, a trend that began under the Obama administration thanks in large part to advances in shale drilling techniques.

Mr. Trump claimed nearly 5 million people have been lifted off food stamps.

This is exaggerated.

The number of Americans in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program decreased by more than 3.5 million between February 2017 — Mr. Trump’s first full month in office — to September 2018, according to the latest available data. By comparison, the number of people receiving the aid decreased by 5 million from June 2015 to January 2017.

Mr. Trump said that Ralph Northam, the embattled governor of Virginia, said he would execute a baby after it was born.

This is false.

In an interview last month, Governor Northam said that he supported a late-term abortion bill that would loosen restrictions on the procedure, and allow women to consult with a doctor on an abortion up to, but not including, the time of birth.

The governor, a pediatric neurologist, also talked about some of the dangerous medical emergencies that pregnant women could face, such as carrying a nonviable fetus. He said that in such a case, the mother would deliver the infant and then, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.” While Mr. Northam was talking about an end-of-life care discussion in the case of a child that would not live, Republicans seized on his remarks as evidence that Mr. Northam supported killing babies after their birth.

Mr. Trump said his administration is holding talks with several groups in Afghanistan, including the Taliban.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American forces last month killed one of the leaders of the 2000 bombing of the naval destroyer Cole.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American troops have been “fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years.”

This is false.

American troops deployed to Afghanistan on Oct. 7, 2001, to begin Operation Enduring Freedom — the American military and NATO mission to rid Afghanistan of Al Qaeda. But Afghanistan is not technically considered part of the Middle East — it is in southwest Asia. The United States invaded Iraq, which is in the Middle East, in March 2003 — nearly 16 years ago.

Mr. Trump said that lawmakers in New York cheered the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth.

This is misleading.

On Jan. 22, the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat of New York, signed the Reproductive Health Act, which ensures a woman’s right to an abortion in New York if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned. It does not broadly allow abortions until shortly before birth, as Mr. Trump suggested. Instead, it will allow for an abortion after 24 weeks to protect the mother’s health or if the fetus is not viable. Under the prior law, abortions were allowed after 24 weeks only if the woman’s life was in jeopardy.

Fact Checking the 2019 State of the Union Address

I find it funny that those statements labeled false, exaggerated, or misleading are not facts, but opinions. Shouldn't you?
