Chevy 2014 Sting RAy Slower Than Z/28?

A rear-engined car has an artificial advantage in a short sprint. The acceleration shifts the weight to the rear of the car, but in a car with the engine out back the effect is magnified, thus providing incredible traction for the first 50 feet.

Volkswagen afficionados used to brag that a VW bug could beat any other car in a 10-foot race. And they were right.

But as I have stated elsewhere in this forum, the 911 is a grossly obsolete design, artfully rectified by electronic gadgetry. No sane designer after 1940 would ever design a sports car with the engine behind the rear wheels.

Comparing a Sting Ray with a 911 Turbo S is STUPID! The Sting Ray is the mid-line Corvette (IIRC, it's below the ZO6 and ZR1 and above the base & Grand Sport), stickers for $51K. The Turbo S is top of the line, stickers for a staggering $181,000!

The proper comparison is a Corvette ZR1.

The Porsche's 0-60 advantage is simply because of AWD. For a much better measure of performance, what are the quarter mile times and trap speeds?
