Normally if you are in bear country you need a bear gun with you.

Normally a magnum slug shotgun is what you need.

Normally if you shoot into the dirt in front of the bear the gravel spray and the blast and noise will scare the bear away.

If that does not work then you need to shoot the remaining rounds into the face and upper chest of the bear.

Even then you will need a lot of luck.

The first rule in hiking in bear country is to never go alone. Make sure you are faster than the one you take with you, because if a bear attacks, all you have to do is outrun your friend!
