Unlike xtianity or Islam, Judaism doesn't encourage conversion and isn't accepting of those, like the so-called Messianic Jews, who pretend to be Jewish. You can go around telling people "I'm Jewish" but you won't be allowed to participate in any Jewish community.

Anyone can pretend to be Jewish, or course. It's not a crime. However, it's not much point in pretending to be that if no one else is going to participate in your deception or indulge your fantasy. You will be playing your part to an audience of one.

You simply won't be allowed to participate in The Jewish Community if you're not Jewish.

I don't believe she is making a claim to being Jewish ... just some misguided notion of fractional Jewish heritage.
