Since Mindless started this thread discussing a legitimate case of how Civil Forfeiture laws screw over Americans- I am pointing out that Sessions is expanding civil forfeiture. Feel free to either
a) Applaud the Administration for expanding Civil Forfeiture so more Americans like the one in the OP get screwed over or
b) Denounce the Administration for expanding Civil Forfeiture that will result in more Americans like the one in the OP get screwed over.

No- its even worse than that- if we can believe this guys account- Customs offered him a settlement- he cut a check for like $4,000 and sent to Customs- and got nothing.

Guess so, Forbes article on the OP incident states that at 4 Texas crossing they seized 525 vehicles in 2015. Doesn't give on what grounds and so I wonder if most of those were stolen?
