The founders were not motivated by a concern for Tyranny . They harbored a distrust of the judgement of the public and chose to leave the selection of the electors the state law makers. It was later that voters were allowed to select that after the rise of the two party system. Maybe you would like to go back to have the state lawmakers choose the electors again?
