Every democratically elected administration promises to reduce crime, yet rampant crime persists at some level all the time. The voting public would make short work of it through the death penalty, longer sentences, and even vigilante justice (which was very effective in its day). If we are a government "of, by, and for" the people, why don't our elected officials listen to us?

Maybe the answer is found in the Bill of Rights, which strongly suggests that our government is not to be trusted to protect even our basic rights.

How many people would be in jail if we didn`t sell guns? Other countries have the same kind of crazies and ignoramuses as we do but they don`t let them play with guns.

Apples and oranges. They don't drive their citizens nuts with crazy policies.

The state can only protect you rights by prosecuting those who violate them.
You are the only first responder you can count on being there when you need one - plan accordingly.
