Democrats find George W. Bush an unlikely ally on Muslims

WASHINGTON — Taunted by Republicans to declare war on "radical Islamic terrorism," Democrats are turning to an unlikely ally: George W. Bush.

President Barack Obama, under pressure to be more aggressive on terrorism, regularly cites his predecessor's refusal to demonize Muslims or play into the notion of a clash between Islam and the West. It's a striking endorsement from a president whose political rise was predicated on opposition to the Iraq war and Bush's hawkish approach in the Middle East.

As Hillary Clinton put it, "George W. Bush was right."

Laying out her plan to fight domestic terrorism, Clinton reminded voters in Minneapolis earlier this month of Bush's visit to a Muslim center six days after the Sept. 11 attacks. She even quoted his words from that day about those who intimidate Muslim-Americans: "They represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior."

These people will do anything to avoid using the term Radical Islamic Terrorism.

We were the ones who AGREED with GWB on this back then when he said it, why should we change now and say he was wrong?

It wasn't often we agreed with him, but this sentiment that he had regarding most Muslims, was correct then and correct now...

What Dubya needs to do now is to put down the paintbrush and come forward and condemn Trump et al. for promulgating hysteria.

He won't, though.

We know Bush was an ally. That's why he let Bin Laden go and stopped looking for him.
CIA disbands Bin laden unit
It's so obvious. And he was misleading saying Bin Laden was in a cave when he was out in the open in a villa. That's called "covering".

This is nothing more than hypocrisy. The left has done everything in their power to blame all of DumBama's failures on GW. Because DumBama is sinking in the polls, now they want to say how GW was correct because he happened to agree with them on this single issue. It's nothing more than trying to pander to the voters.

Trump has had some outstanding poll results with his stance on the Mexican border and his idea to put a halt to Muslim immigration. The left trashed his words, but it seems that there are a considerable amount of Americans that happen to agree with him.

We now know that many Americans are very concerned about immigration (legal and illegal) in this country, so the left is trying to use GW's words to support their unpopular stance. It won't work, but it's pretty funny at the same time.

Utter bull because Bush was out to get Bin Laden which eventually led to his capture. Do you really think that DumBama had anything to do with finding him? That was in the process long before he even thought of running. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time when the final clues came in on where he was at.

Nobody believes Dubya has the country's best interests at heart. Democrats would do well to stay the fuck away from him.

sorry, 7 years of Bush searching for him with nothing to show for it contradicts what you claim!

Bush DID NOT REALLY WANT HIM DEAD OR ALIVE.... he didn't want to get Bin Laden at all...!!!

I'm sure GW couldn't agree more.

What GW said is still relevant to what is being said today....Just because someone does not act, walk or talk like you want them to to, does not diminish the other person's right to an opinion....
