Did Goldman Sachs Overstep in Criminally Charging Its Ex-Programmer?

Michael Lewis is one of my favourite writers, but point of fact, Goldman can't charge anyone with anything.
 
Goldman filed complaint (aka charges) and he was prosecuted by federal government.

Two things caught my eyes reading that article:

1. Corruption in the stock market
2. Inadequacies of the legal system when prosecuting cases involving high tech
 
Only the government can file charges. Private companies or citizens cannot.

What interested me about that article was how bad Goldman's technology is.

It also reaffirmed my strongly held belief not to trust Wall Street.
