You seem to be fixated on the possibility that she could have had an AR-15. Those are not "magic rifles" nor are they any more deadly than one of 20 or 30 other semi-auto rifles with 20 round magazines.

Having an AR-15 doesn't make a person bullet-proof either, as one individual armed only with a pistol and being in the right place at the right time, could easily put a stop to it.

Nor should we be attempting to ban one particular type of rifle just because "It could have been..." There are an unknown number of AR-15 style rifles in ownership in the US, possibly 5 million or more by some estimates. Yet the frequency of crimes committed by them is relatively low compared to pistols, which can also have 30-round magazines.
